This is a record of the third set of a performance of Stuffy Turkey, given in Montreal on July 17 2009. There is a feeling of extra warmth, excitement, and humour as we welcomed trombonist J-O Bégin as a special guest. J-O had just moved back to Montréal from New York, and it was a great pleasure for me to have him play with the band. Since I met him at the Banff Centre for the Arts around 2004, his playing has always surprised me, and he has always made me laugh joyfully, even now in the middle of this pandemic.

It was something special to play with such wonderful musicians, and I'm grateful for how often we got together, always with love, friendship, and dedication to the great music of Thelonious Monk. This album is a continuation of ''Pour Mathieu B.'' (Mr. E Records #18), which has music from the first two sets of the same night.

Ceci est un enregistrement du troisième set d'une performance de Stuffy Turkey, donnée à Montréal le 17 juillet 2009. Il y a un sentiment de chaleur, d'excitation et d'humour lorsque nous avons accueilli le tromboniste J-O Bégin en tant qu'invité spécial. J-O venait de rentrer de New York à Montréal et ce fut un grand plaisir pour moi de le faire jouer avec le groupe. Depuis que je l'ai rencontré au Centre des Arts de Banff vers 2004, son jeu m'a toujours surpris et il m'a toujours fait rire de joie, même maintenant au milieu de cette pandémie.

C'était quelque chose de spécial de jouer avec des musiciens aussi merveilleux, et je suis reconnaissant de la fréquence à laquelle nous nous sommes réunis, toujours avec amour, amitié et dévouement à la grande musique de Thelonious Monk. Cet album est une continuation de «Pour Mathieu B.» (Mr. E Records # 18), qui s'agit de la musique des deux premiers sets de la même nuit.
