This is my first recording, and my first working band. The trio on this recording was the first edition of the band, and it evolved to include other members over the next few years: trumpeter Alfons Fear, drummer Robin Buckley, saxophonist Sundar Viswanathan, bassists Michael Morse and Brandi Disterheft.

We can hear the valves failing badly on the trumpet I had at this time; this was to be the last time I played the instrument in public. It's ok, I really like the sound of half-valving anyway.
